Offering a young Amish Girl ready to begin her day. "Emma" is inspired by the dolls of Margarete Steiff (1847-1909). Steiff was a seamstress who founded Margarete Steiff Gmbh in 1880. Steiff was wheelchair bound due to childhood polio. She started making stuffed animals as a hobby which later became a world wide business. Originally sold as " pin keeps",her animals have been collected and loved by many.
"Emma", who stands 21" tall, is hand wrought from head to toe with great attention to the details of the appropriate Amish clothes for a young girl. Her dress is made of cotton in a solid color. It is modest,practical and fastened with straight pins as is the custom of Old Order Amish women.She has a black,cotton apron over the dress. Her shoes are black  leather with black stockings and her hair is worn in the traditional style. her shoes and stockings are hand wrought. She does not have a white "Prayer Cap". She has a "felted wool body" stuffed with saw dust. She has glass eyes,movable head,jointed shoulders and hips.
