DOLL TRUNK - LATE 19TH CENTURY
Doll Trunks are really apart from other trunks. They are true objects of miniature art. Doll Trunks evolved in several ways. Mainly they copied the trunks of the day from dome top to flat top. They were made of wood, leather, papered wood, stained wood and metal . They exhibited varios degrees of workmanship. Some dolls came with a trunk for storage of the doll and her clothes. Other trunks were made by big fashion houses who made doll clothes on demand. Louis Vuitton, at the request of Guerlain created the first Louis Vuitton doll trunk in 1879.
