BLUE BILL DUCKS - PAIR

Offering a pair of red head blue bills ducks. The hen has a deep blue head, yellow glass eyes and a blue bill ending with a band of white and black tip. She has a white shoulder patch on each wing. The breast is the color of the head. The back is gray/blue feathers and incised feather lines to the tail. The underside is also gray/blue. The carver has fixed a lead pad and leather thong on the underside. The body is hollowed out, hand carved and hand painted.

 The drake has  a top black/blue head with side red head, yellow glass eyes and a blue bill ending with a band of white and black tip. He has a white shoulder patch on each wing. The breast is black/blue as the top of the head. The back is gray/blue feathers and incised feather lines to the tail .The underside is also gray/blue. The carver has fixed a lead pad and leather thong on the underside. The body is hollowed out, hand carved and hand painted.

These decoys are hand carved, hand painted and signed by Frederick C. Brown.  Mr Brown has been carving for years and in 1977 he won "Best in Show" in the Old Schaffer Canal House Decoy Competition. He founded "Barnegat Bay Decoys" which operated in the old Wildfowler factory site in Point Pleasant, N.J. Local carvers were invited to add their works to the inventory giving the public access to Artie Birdsall, Chip Allsopp and Tim Forsyth.

Both ducks are  in excellent condition . The dimensions of both ducks = 13"L,6.25"H .

GADWALL/BALDPATE

This decoy has a mask of green feathers around the eyes and a cream colored cap running from the crown of his to his bill. He has yellow glass eyes with black/white feather lines and a gray/black bill.  He has a large white shoulder patch on each wing . The breast is brown with white/black feather lines on either side.  The back is brown with green and black feathers to the tail with white/green feather lines. The underside is also white. The carver has fixed a lead pad and leather thong on the underside. The body is hollow carved cedar, kiln dried and painted with oils.

This decoy is hand carved, hand painted and signed by Clarence Fennimore.  Mr Fennimore is a descendant of carvers including Harry Fennimore who was one of the classic carvers of the Delaware River School. Mr Fennimore was chairman of the annual decoy show put on by the New Jersey Decoy Collectors Association. In 2002 he was named the New Jersey Decoy Collectors Association "Carver of the Year". In 2003, his Pintail Drake was featured decoy for the New Jersey Duck Stamp.

Mr Fennimore's decoys are finely painted with oils, using combs, wet on wet technique and stippling. He has carved over 1300 decoys, including all species.They all exhibit as examples of a true authentic beautiful Delaware River decoy.

This is Gaswall Duck is  in excellent condition . The dimensions are 16"L,6.25"H .

The breast is black and white with black feather lines on either side.  The back is black and gray to the tail with white/black feather lines. The underside is also white. This decoy has tack eyes, brown bill painted at top with two points at end. The head is brown from the bill down the tail.  The breast is a ring of brown feather lines extending to the back. The back is brown and underside is off white with off white. The back is brown to the tail. This hen is very rare.
This is a Mason Standard Grade,circa 1910,  = plain carving, no head detail, simple paint patterns, solid wood. It is solid, in good condition with minor wear and minor paint loss. The dimensions are 14"L, 7"H .

RIGMATE PAIR

This pair of Rigmate canvasbacks have yellow glass eyes, black incised bills painted at top with two points at end. The drake has a red head extending down the neck. There is a black line extending down middle of head to back. The breast is black with a ring of plumed black feather lines. The back and underside are off white. The tail is black with gold feather lines The dimensions are 16"L 7"H .

The hen has a brown head extending to the tail. The breast is has a ring of plumed brown feathers extending round the breast.  The back is brown and underside is off white with grey wing feathers on either side. The back is brown with gold feather lines extending to the tail. The dimensions are 16"L 7"H .

Both ducks are Mason Challenge Grade = plain carving, no head detail, simple paint patterns, solid wood. They are solid, in good condition with minor wear and minor paint loss. The bill of the hen has minor damage at the tip.

The drake has a green head with a black stripe down the middle. The breast is red with a ring of red plumed feather lines . It has a white ring around the neck. WOOD DUCK



This decoy has a black head, extending to lower black and tail with white and gold  feather lines. There is a white feather swirl on either side of the jaw extending to the front neck. It has yellow glass eyes and a brown/ red painted bill. The breast is red with white feather dots ending in a feather swirl around the sides.
