YELLOWWARE BOWL

Yellowware is a type of earthenware named after its yellow clay used for its production. Production began in America from 1828 - 1930. It was produced mainly in New England, Ohio, Pa., and New Jersey. Its color ranges from butter yellow to deep mustard and was popular due to its low cost and durability. For these reasons,it was used for baking,mixing and storage. It often has color slips or sponge color added to it. Most pieces are unmarked. Bowls were produced in nested sets of 6-8 ranging from 3" - 17" in Diameter.
