Fracktur Bird
American - Lancaster County, 21 st Century
We are offering a contemporary carved and painted bird in the "Fracktur" tradition of Pennsylvania. The head is red with black over red feathering extending down the tail. The eyes and beak are black. Red extends around the sides blending into a yellow chest. There are green-black wings on either side. The bird stands on a muted-green-yellow pedestal. The tail is straight black over red. The carver belongs to an old order Mennonite Community in Lancaster County. His daughter paints all his carvings while his nieces paint panels and canvases. Each piece is made entirely by hand. each artist is self taught capturing life on the farm into their works. This piece is in excellent condition. The dimensions are 8" high, 9 1/4' Wide.
